Description

Chubb is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Marine Manager to lead and oversee our Marine Insurance operations in Iberia (Spain and Portugal). This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the Marine Insurance market, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to foster meaningful relationships with key stakeholders. The Marine Manager will be responsible for driving growth, profitability, and operational excellence while ensuring alignment with Chubb’s global strategy and local market needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a forward-looking Marine Insurance strategy for Iberia, leveraging market insights and data analysis to identify growth opportunities and align with Chubb’s global objectives.
  • Portfolio Management: Optimize the Marine portfolio by evaluating risk exposures, designing tailored coverage solutions, and ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines. Utilize pricing practices and techniques to maintain profitability while meeting customer needs.
  • Business Development: Proactively identify and prioritize opportunities to expand the Marine Insurance business, including cross‑selling complementary products and services.
  • Client and Broker Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other key stakeholders to enhance Chubb’s market presence and reputation.
  • Team Leadership: Inspire and mentor the Marine team in Iberia, fostering a culture of collaboration, adaptability, and high performance.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to anticipate risks and opportunities. Use critical thinking to break down complex challenges and develop actionable strategies.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure all operations comply with local regulations, Chubb’s internal policies, and industry underwriting thought processes clearly and succinctly to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports on the performance of the Marine portfolio to senior management.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in Marine Insurance with expertise in underwriting, portfolio management, or business development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Marine Insurance market in Spain and Portugal, including Cargo, Project Cargo, Fine Arts & Special Hull, and Marine Liability lines.
  • Proven ability to manage a portfolio, assess risks, and design coverage solutions that align with both client needs and Chubb’s profitability goals.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience with a track record of fostering high‑performing teams.
  • Excellent negotiation and decision‑making skills with the ability to balance customer needs and organizational objectives.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is required; Portuguese is a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant tools.
