Flywire is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead high-impact teams focused on the evolution of our core payments platform. You will balance technical vision with people leadership, acting as player-coach to drive automation and scalable distributed systems for billions in daily transactions.

Join a global, diverse team and shape architecture, AI-enabled workflows, and delivery across product lines while mentoring engineers and aligning with product, QA and SRE counterparts.

Formación

• 3+ years of experience managing and mentoring engineering teams, with a proven track record in performance management and hiring.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience focusing on high-availability production systems and distributed architecture.
• Hands-on experience building or supporting payment platforms, payment gateways, financial systems, or fintech products.
• Strong ability to navigate complex business issues, influence senior leaders, and communicate technical subjects clearly to non-technical partners.

• Quality Governance: Establish high standards through thorough design reviews and sustainable engineering practices like TDD and CI/CD.
• Stakeholder Alignment: Partner with Product, QA, and SRE to align technical roadmaps with business outcomes and product strategy.
• Global Influence: Build strong relationships with business stakeholders and senior engineers across the global organization to refine infrastructure requirements.

The Opportunity

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead high-impact teams focused on the evolution of Flywire’s core payment architecture. You are a strategic leader who balances deep technical vision with exceptional people leadership, serving as a player-coach to drive the automation of complex global payment processes. Your mission is to strengthen our payments engine by integrating AI-driven advancements and scaling resilient, distributed systems that move hundreds of millions daily.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

Here’s What We’re Looking For:

Management Experience

• 3+ years of experience managing and mentoring engineering teams, with a proven track record in performance management and hiring.

Technical Foundations

• 7+ years of software engineering experience focusing on high-availability production systems and distributed architecture.

Payments Domain Expertise

• Hands-on experience building or supporting payment platforms, payment gateways, financial systems, or fintech products.
• Strong understanding of payment processing, payment orchestration, card payments, banking integrations, or other payment ecosystem components is highly preferred.

Leadership & Communication

• Strong ability to navigate complex business issues, influence senior leaders, and communicate technical subjects clearly to non-technical partners.
