Job summary

Mercor is seeking a native Malayalam speaker to annotate and transcribe Malayalam-language documents. You will bound and label page regions, maintain reading order, and ensure exact character-level transcription across diverse layouts.

Prior experience in annotation or QA for language data is a plus. You will work on real-world Malayalam documents, with emphasis on accuracy and systematic taxonomy across pages.

Qualifications

• Must be a native Malayalam speaker with full command of the script and orthography.
• Ability to reproduce text character-for-character in Malayalam.
• Experience with annotation, transcription, localization, or QA in language data is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Open and verify Malayalam task pages for content and legibility.
• Annotate the page structure: bound regions, types, and reading order.
• Record relationships between regions and parent figures/tables.
• Transcribe all Malayalam text exactly as shown, flagging illegible parts.
• Capture page metadata: language, type, size, and handwriting flags.
• Review a colleague0s work and ensure high accuracy on first pass.
