Job summary

Hitachi Energy Spain is seeking a Lead & Commissioning Engineer (SCADA) to coordinate engineering activities across medium to high-complexity Grid Automation projects in Madrid. The role requires frequent travel to customer sites and project locations, ensuring on-time delivery and stakeholder alignment.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electromechanical/Systems Engineering with at least 5 years of substation automation and SCADA experience, and be fluent

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in substation automation and SCADA.
• Knowledge of Hitachi Energy MicroSCADA X, RTU500, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101/104, DNP3, Modbus.
• Native-level Spanish proficiency and English at C1 level or higher.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently to customer sites and project locations.

• Serve as the technical lead and design authority for engineering deliverables across multiple disciplines.
• Develop base designs for substation automation, control, and protection systems.
• Verify the implementation of base designs during detailed engineering phases.
• Coordinate all technical activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and approve technical documentation in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Collaborate with customers to define, shape, and deliver effective technical solutions.

Identify, assess, and manage technical and cross-functional project risks. Support project management with engineering budget monitoring, forecasting, and cost-to-complete assessments. Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external & internal regulations, procedures & guidelines.

Your Background

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in substation automation and SCADA solutions, with preferable knowledge of Hitachi Energy MicroSCADA X, RTU500, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101/104, DNP3, Modbus, etc and integration of protection and control equipment in transmission and distribution substations. Native-level Spanish proficiency is required. English proficiency at C1 level or higher is required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Willingness and ability to travel frequently to customer sites and project locations, ensuring successful project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
