HITACHI ENERGY SPAIN, S.A.U. in Madrid, Spain, is seeking a Senior Project Lead Engineer to lead and coordinate engineering activities across medium to high-complexity Grid Automation projects.

This role ensures the efficient and cost-effective execution of engineering deliverables while meeting contractual requirements, quality standards, and safety regulations, with approximately 25% travel. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in substation automation, protection, and control systems.
• Native-level Spanish proficiency is required.
• English proficiency at C1 level or higher is required.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead and design authority for engineering deliverables across multiple disciplines.
• Develop base designs for substation automation, control, and protection systems.
• Verify the implementation of base designs during detailed engineering phases.
• Coordinate all technical activities throughout the entire project lifecycle.
• Review and approve technical documentation in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Collaborate closely with customers to define, shape, and deliver effective technical solutions.
• Identify, assess, and manage technical and cross-functional project risks.
• Support project management with engineering budget monitoring, forecasting, and cost-to-complete assessments.
