Job summary

RED Engineering Design is seeking a Principal BMS Engineer to join the Madrid team. You will lead complex control systems projects, translate client BMS philosophies into tangible solutions, and work closely with client technical leads on hyperscale data centre designs across Europe.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years of senior BMS experience, strong automation knowledge, and the ability to travel internationally. The role is based in Madrid with potential for global engagement.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Registered with a recognized engineering body.
• Aspiring Chartered Engineer or equivalent.
• Significant experience in building automation, instrumentation and monitoring systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage large control systems projects and coordinate engineering services.
• Develop designs/specifications for mechanical and electrical installations.
• Produce control system points lists and layout drawings.
• Create operation sequences from MEP design reviews.
• Prepare software specifications and tender documentation.
• Review contractor proposals for compliance with design specs and regulations.
• Conduct condition surveys and prepare improvement plans.
• Interface with clients and project teams to provide guidance.
• Ensure compliance with Spanish/EU standards and safety regulations.
• Coordinate commissioning activities and factory/site tests.
• Lead engineering services coordination across the project.
