Job summary

Gilytics AG is seeking a Backend Lead to own the server-side engine behind Pathfinder, including geoprocessing, spatial data APIs, and backend services. This is a hands-on senior role reporting to the CTO.

Strong ownership and collaboration across frontend, DevOps and GIS Data teams are essential. The role emphasizes architectural work, code reviews, mentoring, and the ability to integrate AI into the backend.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend software development.
• Strong Python skills with GIS libraries GEOS, GDAL/OGR, Shapely or GeoPandas.
• Experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS geospatial apps.
• Designing and maintaining REST APIs and scalable services.
• Technical leadership: coordinate teams, review code, mentor.
• English professional working proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build the backend data model, REST APIs and services behind Pathfinder.
• Develop and maintain geoprocessing and spatial data functions.
• Set backend priorities with the CTO and manage agile delivery.
• Lead code reviews and set testing, documentation, security standards.
• Mentor backend developers.
• Integrate AI into the backend and promote AI-driven development.
• Contribute to product roadmap planning and technical estimation.
