Job summary

AstraZeneca is recruiting a Lead AI & Data Engineer in the APD Platform Data & AI team in Barcelona. You will design, develop and operate scalable data and AI capabilities for R&D, enabling secure data access, analytics, and ML across complex drug development projects.

You will mentor engineers, drive DevOps practices, and collaborate with scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders to deliver practical, trustable AI solutions while upholding enterprise standards and governance.

Qualifications

• Experience leading data and AI engineering in a complex enterprise.
• Strong programming in Python and SQL, with data modelling skills.
• Experience with cloud services for data, analytics and ML.
• Familiar with ML lifecycle, deployment, monitoring and reproducibility.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain APD Platform data/AI solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, product managers and stakeholders.
• Ensure data quality, governance, security, and compliance.
• Lead by example with hands-on engineering and code reviews.
