Global Riser Pty invites a Junior Engineering Technician (Mechanical or Metallurgical) to join our engineering team in a training-focused role. The position emphasizes practical application of engineering theory and safe work practices in a manufacturing context.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering Technology (DipEng) in Mechanical or Metallurgical.
• No experience required; junior position; training opportunites available.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
• Fluent written and spoken English is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical reviews of manufacturing data books (MRBs).
• Assist with manufacturing process setup and validation, including WPSs and WPQRs.
• Develop, review and maintain Quality Control Plans (QCPs) aligned with drawings/specs and client requirements.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation under revision control; support audits.
• Prepare technical reports.
• Use MS Copilot to support document review and drafting; verify AI outputs against originals.
• Coordinate with QSHE, Engineering, SMEs, Operations and Inspection to resolve issues.
• Complete training and gain understanding of equipment and Company processes; ensure safe work practices.

The Junior Engineering Technician (Mechanical or Metallurgical) is an entry point for engineering personnel at Global Riser.

He/she will be an enthusiastic, efficient, committed individual with a sound grounding in engineering theory, who can think practically and innovatively.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Conduct technical reviews of manufacturing data books (MRBs);
• Assist with manufacturing process setup and validation, including the preparation of WPSs and WPQRs;
• Develop, review and maintain Quality Control Plans (QCPs), ensuring alignment with drawings, specifications and client requirements;
• Prepare, review and maintain technical documentation, such as work instructions and procedures, under revision control, ensuring it reflects the physical processes as carried out and complies with internal procedures and international standards, and support audits;
• Prepare technical reports;
• Use AI tools, in particular MS Copilot, to support document review and drafting, and verify all AI outputs against the original documents (e.g. certificates, drawings and data books) before use;
• Coordinate with QSHE, Engineering, SMEs, Operations and Inspection personnel to resolve issues;
• Complete training as required, gain a fundamental understanding of Capital Drilling Equipment and the Company's processes and procedures, and ensure safe work practices are followed at all times.

Diploma in Engineering Technology (DipEng) (Mechanical or Metallurgical), or equivalent.

Experience

No experience required, as this is a junior position. Vacation or experiential training in a manufacturing, fabrication, welding or quality environment would be advantageous.

• Advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite;
• Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes, welding, heat treatment, NDE and material certificates would be advantageous;
• Working knowledge of AI tools, in particular MS Copilot, would be advantageous.
