Job summary

AECOM in Madrid seeks a Junior Electrical Engineer to join its Rail Systems and Traction Power team. You will work within multidisciplinary teams on electrification projects across metro, light rail, tram and mainline rail systems.

Responsibilities include design development, electrical studies, and documentation production. Collaboration across disciplines and adherence to safety standards will be essential throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in power systems or railway electrification.
• English communication proficiency required.
• Knowledge of ETAP/PowerFactory or equivalent.
• Desirable experience in railway electrification (DC/AC) and substation design.
• Development of technical specifications for electrical substation equipment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design development, risk assessment, and value engineering for traction power systems.
• Develop electrical studies and model analyses using ETAP/PowerFactory.
• Space planning for TPS installations and cable routing.
• Produce technical reports, specs, drawings, BoQ, and other project documentation.
• Review documents from clients and suppliers and propose technical solutions.
• Support proposals, site surveys, testing, and commissioning as needed.
• Integrate design processes within the System Engineering and System Assurance framework.
• Attend design team meetings and justify designs to clients or reviewers.
