Job summary

Marosa, a Vigo-based FinTech company specialising in tax technology, is seeking a Junior Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team. You will work on backend services using Java/Spring Boot, build RESTful APIs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.

This role focuses on learning and growth, under mentorship from experienced engineers, with exposure to real products used by multinational clients.

Qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience with Java and object-oriented programming.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot or willingness to learn it quickly.
• Basic understanding of REST APIs and how web apps communicate.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot with guidance from seniors.
• Build and improve RESTful APIs consumed by internal and external clients.
• Write clean, well-tested code following team standards.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with frontend, product, and design teams.
• Learn system architecture, performance, reliability, and security in production.

Our mission is to simplify global VAT compliance for multinational companies through powerful and user-centric software. We are looking for a Junior Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This is a great opportunity to take the next step in your backend development career, working alongside experienced engineers on real products used by multinational clients.

What You Will Do:

• - Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot, with guidance from senior engineers.
• - Help build and improve RESTful APIs consumed by internal and external clients.
• - Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following team standards.
• - Participate in code reviews, both giving and receiving feedback to grow as an engineer.
• - Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• - Learn about system architecture, performance, reliability, and security in a production environment.
• - Contribute to deployment and monitoring tasks as part of your professional development.

What We Are Looking For:

• - A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• - Around 1–2 years of experience with Java and object-oriented programming (internships, traineeships, or professional experience all count).
• - Familiarity with Spring Boot or willingness to learn it quickly.
• - Basic understanding of REST APIs and how web applications communicate.
• - A problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
• - Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
• - Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and grow within a supportive team.

Bonus:

• - Personal or academic projects showcasing backend development skills.
• - Exposure to version control systems such as Git.
