Job summary

Qualifyze is looking for a Backend Engineering Lead to own the backend ecosystem across the organization in Barcelona, Spain. You will combine people leadership with ownership of backend architecture, standards, and delivery quality, aligning with product and frontend constraints to enable teams to deliver effectively.

You will mentor engineers, drive performance reviews, and help shape the engineering vision in close collaboration with the Head of Engineering and Chapter Leads.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership of backend teams delivering scalable services.
• Strong expert knowledge of Java stack and database design.
• Experience defining architecture and driving adoption at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead the backend ecosystem across the organization and own backend architecture, standards, and delivery quality.
• Align backend work with product and frontend constraints, coaching engineers and improving ways of working.
• Drive hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and compensation cycles for backend teams.
• Collaborate with Head of Engineering and Chapter Leads to execute the engineering vision.
• Ensure backend delivery is predictable, scalable, and high quality across teams.
