X-ELIO, a Brookfield-owned global renewable energy leader based in Madrid, seeks an experienced head of global insurance and enterprise risk management to protect asset value across development, construction and operations.

You will lead the insurance programme (CAR/EAR, Property, Liability, D&O, Cyber, Environmental), implement a risk framework, ensure contract compliance across EPC, O&M, PPA, manage large claims and support project finance & M&A with lenders and advisers.

Formación

• 10+ years of experience in insurance or risk management.
• 5+ years in energy or infrastructure sectors.
• Experience managing global insurance programmes and large claims.
• Experience across at least two regions: EMEA, APAC, LATAM or North America.
• Understanding of project finance, M&A processes and contractual frameworks (EPC, O&M, PPA).
• Fluent in English and Spanish.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the global insurance programme (CAR/EAR, Property, Liability, D&O, Cyber, Environmental).
• Define and implement the company’s risk management framework, maintaining risk registers and supporting decision-making across development, construction and operations.
• Ensure full compliance of insurance requirements across EPC, O&M, PPA and financing agreements, aligning contractual risk allocation with coverage.
• Lead end-to-end claims management, including large-loss cases, ensuring timely resolution and maximising recoveries.
• Support project finance and M&A processes, including insurance due diligence, lender negotiations and R&W advisory.
• Manage key stakeholders (Finance, Legal, Engineering, lenders, brokers and insurers), while driving continuous improvement in cost of risk and internal capabilities.

Based in: Madrid, Spain

The selected professional will own and lead the global insurance and enterprise risk management function, ensuring optimal risk transfer strategies, cost efficiency, and protection of asset value across the full project lifecycle and geographies.

What will you do?

• Lead the global insurance programme (CAR/EAR, Property, Liability, D&O, Cyber, Environmental), including design, renewals and broker negotiations.
• Define and implement the company’s risk management framework, maintaining risk registers and supporting decision-making across development, construction and operations.
• Ensure full compliance of insurance requirements across EPC, O&M, PPA and financing agreements, aligning contractual risk allocation with coverage.
• Lead end-to-end claims management, including large-loss cases, ensuring timely resolution and maximising recoveries.
• Support project finance and M&A processes, including insurance due diligence, lender negotiations and R&W advisory.
• Manage key stakeholders (Finance, Legal, Engineering, lenders, brokers and insurers), while driving continuous improvement in cost of risk and internal capabilities.

What do we need?

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Economics, Engineering or related field; Master’s in Risk Management/Insurance is a plus.
• 10+ years of experience in insurance or risk management, with at least 5 years in energy or infrastructure sectors.
• Proven expertise managing global insurance programmes and large claims.
• Experience across at least two of the following regions: EMEA, APAC, LATAM or North America.
• Solid understanding of project finance, M&A processes and contractual frameworks (EPC, O&M, PPA).
• Fluent English and Spanish.
