Bertrandt Group in Madrid is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for an aerospace/defense project. You will join validation and verification activities for the MIU, supporting tactical communications and secure data exchange on aeronautical platforms.

The role involves requirements analysis, test design, script development, test bench configuration, and defect tracking with Jira. English at B2 level is required, with experience in C4ISR architectures and defense-grade systems.

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join an aerospace and defense project, participating in validation and verification activities for the MIU (MIDS Interface Unit)—a key component of the MIDS (Multifunction Information Distribution System) responsible for tactical communications and secure data exchange on aeronautical platforms.

Specific Tasks

• Analysis and review of requirements and functional specifications using requirements management tools (DOORS, IDS), ensuring traceability between requirements and tests.
• Design of test cases and definition of validation strategies, including inputs, execution sequences, and expected results.
• Development, adaptation, and maintenance of scripts, libraries, and test procedures for preparing Test Programs.
• Configuration of simulation, communication, and test bench environments for executing test campaigns.
• Execution of functional software tests (Black-Box Testing) using Test Programs, simulators, and test benches.
• Recording, monitoring, and analysis of test results, including the review of logs, data tables, and recorded executions.
• Conducting Verification and Validation (V&V) activities to ensure compliance with system requirements and specifications.
• Preparation of Test Reports and technical documentation related to test campaigns, metrics, evidence, and deliverables.
• Identification, analysis, and tracking of issues detected during testing via Software Problem Reports (SPR).
• Defect management and traceability using tools like Jira, coordinating issue resolution with development teams.
• Verification of fixes implemented by the software team and execution of regression tests to validate SPR resolution.
• Participation in technical meetings with development, integration, systems, and client teams to track testing and issues.
• Generation and maintenance of process documentation, test procedures, and lessons learned.

Requirements

• Senior Engineer (preferably in Telecommunications) with practical experience in MIDS.
• English proficiency at B2 level.
• Demonstrable experience with tactical communication systems and military data links. Knowledge of the integration, validation, and testing of communications equipment on defense platforms.
• Ability to analyze technical requirements, prepare documentation, and provide support for issue resolution.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary environments with clients and suppliers.
• Knowledge of networks, communication protocols, and C4ISR system architectures.
