Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe, Madrid, seeks a Mission Systems SW Engineer to design, implement and verify onboard software for aircraft mission systems. You will integrate software into mission computers, work with avionics and datalinks, and evolve architectures to meet evolving customer requirements.

Requirements include a degree in CS/engineering and 2–3 years SDLC experience, strong C++, Qt/QML, and network protocol knowledge.

Formación

• Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2-3 years of professional experience across the full Software Development Cycle (Requirements, Design, Implementation, Validation & Verification).
• Strong proficiency in C++ language, QT/QML graphic libraries and network protocols using network analyzers.

Responsabilidades

• Design, implement, and verify software components to be delivered into development, integration rigs, and aircraft environments.
• Evolve software and deployment architecture to meet new customer requirements.
• Integrate software into aircraft mission computers with OS/drivers from suppliers.
• Perform software verification: unit tests, HW/SW integration, black-box & non-regression tests.
• Work in an Agile framework to ensure SDLC quality and timelines.

An opportunity for a Mission Systems SW Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid). The Mission System SW Department develops advanced onboard software designed to manage inputs and data from various sensors, weapons, avionics, and datalinks, providing an enriched tactical picture to pilots and operators on the aircraft. The selected candidate will join an experienced, highly motivated and cooperative team where technical knowledge is key to understanding diverse system needs. This role offers an outstanding opportunity to develop a professional career within military platforms, participating directly in the definition, implementation and evolution of future mission systems software architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and verify software components to be delivered into development, integration rigs, and aircraft environments.
• Evolve the overall software and deployment architecture to adapt current mission software products to new customer requirements.
• Integrate developed software into specific aircraft mission computers along with the operating systems and drivers provided by equipment suppliers.
• Execute software verification activities, including unit testing, software/hardware integration, black‑box testing and non‑regression testing.
• Collaborate within an Agile framework to ensure the complete Software Development Cycle meets quality standards and project timelines.

Skills

• Education: Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience: At least 2 to 3 years of professional experience across the full Software Development Cycle (Requirements, Design, Implementation, Validation & Verification).
• Technical knowledge: Strong proficiency in C++ language, QT/QML graphic libraries and network protocols (Ethernet, ARP, IP, UDP/TCP) using network analyzers such as Wireshark.
• Soft skills: Strong capacity to understand complex system needs, a cooperative mindset, team spirit and high motivation to learn and grow.
• Languages: Advanced level in English.
• Valuable / Nice to have: Knowledge of communication buses (A429, RS422, 1553, AFDX), installation and administration of SUSE Linux (or other distributions) and Agile methodologies (SCRUM, KANBAN, SAFe).
• Specific Requirement: Due to the nature of our work with classified programmes inside our department, only Spanish citizens will be considered.
