GEA is seeking an IIoT Engineer to design, implement, and support cloud-enabled digital solutions for food and beverage processing equipment. You will combine automation, cloud tech, and data engineering to enable real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and process optimization.

This role may be based in Alcobendas (Spain) with a hybrid working model, and offers private health insurance, employee assistance, international career development, and a Top Employer 2026 designation.

Formación

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 5+ years of experience in Industrial Automation, IIoT, Cloud Engineering, or Digital Solutions.
  • Experience delivering cloud-based software products using Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with InfluxDB and Databricks for time-series data management and analytics.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA, HMI, and industrial control systems.
  • Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Knowledge of Food & Beverage processes.
  • Awareness of IEC 62443 and industrial cybersecurity principles.
  • Spanish or German language skills are a strong advantage.

Responsabilidades

  • Integrate Siemens and Rockwell automation systems with cloud platforms such as Azure.
  • Support development of digital applications for monitoring, analytics, and predictive maintenance.
  • Define technical requirements with Product Managers and Automation Engineers.
  • Implement edge-to-cloud connectivity for real-time data collection.
  • Drive standardization of digital architectures and integration frameworks.
  • Ensure IIoT solutions meet OT cybersecurity standards.
  • Implement standardized industrial data models and asset hierarchies.
  • Develop reusable connectivity and analytics solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, and performance of digital products.

About the position

The IIoT Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions that connect food and beverage processing equipment with cloud-based digital applications and advanced data analytics platforms. This role combines expertise in industrial automation, connectivity, cloud technologies, and data engineering to deliver scalable digital solutions that enable real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, process optimization, asset performance management, and sustainability initiatives. This position can be based in Alcobendas (Spain), Naas (Ireland) or Bogota (Colombia), depending on the selected candidate.

Your responsibilities and tasks
  • Integrate Siemens and Rockwell automation systems with cloud-based platforms, including Microsoft Azure, InfluxDB, and Databricks.
  • Support the development of digital applications for equipment monitoring, asset performance management, predictive maintenance, energy management, water optimization, and production performance analytics.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Automation Engineers to define technical requirements.
  • Implement edge-to-cloud connectivity solutions for real-time data collection and monitoring.
  • Drive the standardization of digital architectures and integration frameworks.
  • Ensure IIoT solutions comply with OT cybersecurity standards and industry best practices.
  • Implement standardized industrial data models, asset hierarchies, and contextualized data structures.
  • Support the development of reusable connectivity and analytics solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of digital products.
Your profile and qualifications
Educational Background
  • Bachelor's orMaster's Degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering or Computer Science.
Professional Knowledge and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Industrial Automation, IIoT, Cloud Engineering, or Digital Solutions.
  • Experience delivering cloud-based software products using Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience working with InfluxDB and Databricks for time-series data management, analytics, and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA, HMI, and industrial control systems within process or manufacturing industries.
  • Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Knowledge of Food & Beverage processes.
  • Awareness of IEC 62443 and industrial cybersecurity principles.
  • Spanish or German would be considered a strong advantage.
