SPX FLOW is seeking an experienced Installation & Commissioning (I&C) Engineer to join our Madrid-based team. You will lead installation, commissioning, start-up of process equipment, and project-wide activities across international sites, ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery.

The role requires a minimum of 4 years in process engineering, installation, or commissioning within Food & Beverage or process industries, strong English communication, and willingness to travel up to 80% across

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Food Technology, Dairy Technology, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Process Engineering, Installation, or Commissioning.
  • Experience in Food & Beverage or Process Industry.
  • English communication skills; willingness to travel ~80% across EMEA and APAC.

Responsabilidades

  • Execute installation, commissioning, qualification, and start-up activities for process plants and equipment.
  • Perform IQ, OQ, and support PQ.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, thermal, and instrumentation issues during commissioning.
  • Configure instrumentation, control systems, and process equipment.
  • Support first production runs and optimize process parameters.
  • Deliver customer training on plant operation and maintenance.
  • Prepare commissioning documentation, reports, and technical records.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Automation Engineers, Process Engineers, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards at all times.
  • Participate in project reviews, progress reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support site coordination activities and, depending on project requirements, take responsibilities as a Commissioning Team Leader or Site Manager.

I&C Engineer (Installation & Commissioning Engineer)

Location: Madrid, Spain

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Installation & Commissioning (I&C) Engineer to join our growing team in Madrid, Spain. In this role, you will support the successful installation, commissioning, and start-up of process equipment and complete production systems for customers across the food and beverage industry.

You will work closely with project managers, process engineers, automation teams, customers, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working on international projects and is open to extensive travel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute installation, commissioning, qualification, and start-up activities for process plants and equipment.
  • Perform Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and support Performance Qualification (PQ).
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, thermal, and instrumentation issues during commissioning.
  • Configure instrumentation, control systems, and process equipment.
  • Support first production runs and optimize process parameters.
  • Deliver customer training on plant operation and maintenance.
  • Prepare commissioning documentation, reports, and technical records.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Automation Engineers, Process Engineers, suppliers, and customers throughout project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards at all times.
  • Participate in project reviews, progress reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support site coordination activities and, depending on project requirements, take responsibilities as a Commissioning Team Leader or Site Manager.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Food Technology, Dairy Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Process Engineering, Installation, or Commissioning.
  • Experience working within the Food & Beverage or Process Industry.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning activities, plant start-up, and process validation.
  • Experience with process equipment including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills covering mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 80%) across EMEA and occasionally APAC.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with pasteurization, sterilization, CIP, dairy, liquid processing, or powder processing technologies.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, process control, MCC panels, electrical systems, and PID control loops.
  • Experience leading commissioning activities or site teams.
  • Familiarity with project planning and scheduling tools (MS Project).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and customer-facing skills.
