Hitachi Energy Spain, S.A.U. is seeking an HSE Site Specialist to implement and maintain health, safety, and environmental programs at project sites in Madrid.

You will ensure compliance with local regulations, client requirements, and ISO standards while promoting a strong safety culture. The role focuses on preventing incidents, supervising high-risk activities, and coordinating with subcontractors and project teams.

Formación

  • Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Certified Occupational Health and Safety Professional with a Master’s Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention and accredited qualifications in all three mandatory specialities.
  • Qualification officially recognized and valid for Occupational Risk Prevention in Spain.
  • 3–5 years of experience as an HSE Technician on construction sites or electrical projects.
  • Experience with Spanish health, safety and environmental legislation (e.g., Royal Decree 1627/1997, Royal Decree 614/2001).
  • Fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Willingness to travel and work on project sites.

Responsabilidades

  • Provide HSE guidance and technical advice to project teams to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Coordinate HSE activities with subcontractors, client representatives, and project management.
  • Identify hazards and implement preventive and corrective measures.
  • Monitor high-risk activities including electrical works, work at height, and lifting operations.
  • Share lessons learned and promote continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with client HSE requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Support audits, inspections, and management reviews; track corrective actions.
  • Prepare regular HSE performance reports for project teams.

The opportunity

The HSE Site Specialist is responsible for implementing and maintaining health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs at project sites, ensuring compliance with company policies, local regulations, and client requirements. This role focuses on preventing incidents, promoting a safe working culture, and minimizing environmental impact.

How you’ll make an impact:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE programs and procedures for construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable legal requirements, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards, and corporate policies.

  • Provide HSE guidance, support, and technical advice to the project team, particularly to operational personnel, promoting a strong safety culture throughout the project.

  • Coordinate HSE activities with subcontractors, client representatives, and project management.

  • Identify hazards and risks associated with project activities and ensure the implementation of effective preventive and corrective measures.

  • Monitor and supervise high-risk activities, including electrical works, work at height, lifting operations, and other critical tasks.

  • Promote the identification, sharing, and implementation of lessons learned and best practices to support continuous improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with client HSE requirements, contractual obligations, and applicable standards.

  • Participate in audits, inspections, and management reviews, supporting the implementation of corrective and improvement actions.

  • Monitor HSE performance indicators and prepare regular reports for project teams.

Your background:
  • Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.

  • Certified Occupational Health and Safety Professional holding a Master's Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention, with accredited qualifications in all three mandatory specialities:

  • The qualification must be officially recognized and valid for the performance of Occupational Risk Prevention functions in Spain.

  • Additional training or qualifications in Environmental Management and Environmental Legislation will be considered an advantage.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Occupational Health & Safety (HSE) Technician on construction sites and/or electrical installation projects.

  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, risk prevention methodologies, and applicable Spanish legislation, particularly Royal Decree 1627/1997 on construction sites and Royal Decree 614/2001 on the protection of workers against electrical risks.

  • Demonstrated experience and sound technical knowledge in activities involving electrical hazards and high-risk electrical work.

  • Good understanding of occupational health, safety, and environmental management systems, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards will be considered an advantage.

  • Fluent in Spanish and English

  • Willingness to travel and work on project sites as required. This is a site-based role with regular presence at construction projects.
