Barcelona Supercomputing Center in Barcelona is seeking an HPC Engineer for Earth Sciences applications to profile, optimize, and lead CPU profiling efforts on high-resolution climate models.

The candidate will develop common tools for the Earth Sciences department and collaborate with external partners, with a focus on MPI/OpenMP parallelism and modern HPC architectures. Fluency in English is required.

Formación

• Excellent computing skills in high-level languages (Fortran, C/C++) and Unix/Linux with scripting (Bash, Python).
• Programming skills to manage big projects and experience with git and/or SVN.
• Experience in HPC performance and profiling tools such as Intel VTune.
• Experience in compiling, running and optimizing scientific codes on large HPC systems.
• Experience with HPC architecture and parallel programming (MPI, OpenMP).
• Experience with novel architectures like RISC-V.
• Experience or knowledge of Unix/Linux-based HPC systems.

Responsabilidades

• Profile and implement computational optimizations for Earth Sciences applications on very high-resolution configurations.
• Lead the CPU Profiling & Optimization Unit, providing technical supervision and direction.
• Develop department tools used across sub-groups within the Earth Sciences department.
• Collaborate with the Climate Variability and Change group and external collaborators/software vendors.
