Job summary

SLS Barcelona is seeking a housekeeping intern to support the department under the Housekeeping Manager. You will contribute to maintaining service standards and guest satisfaction in a luxury setting on Barcelona's waterfront.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in hospitality studies, can commit to a six-month internship, and communicate fluently in English and Spanish while working closely with Front Office and Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in hospitality or a related field.
• Willingness to sign an internship agreement for a period of around 6 months.
• Demonstrates multitasking ability and strong team spirit.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the overall operation of the housekeeping department under the Housekeeping Manager.
• Ensure departmental service standards and sequences of service are upheld.
• Collaborate daily with housekeeping partners, Front Office and Engineering.
• Address guest issues promptly and maintain guest satisfaction.
• Supervise cleaning of guest rooms, public areas and equipment; assist with deep cleaning during peak periods.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily interdepartmental coordination.

What you’ll do

• Under the guidance of the Housekeeping Manager, you will be responsible for supervising the overall operation of the housekeeping department.
• Ensure all departmental service standards and sequences of service are being upheld.
• Work collaboratively with all housekeeping partners on a day-to-day basis.
• Maintain a close relationship with the Front Office and Engineering Team.
• Ensure guest satisfaction -address guest issues as they arise and provide prompt correspondence if necessary.
• Check public areas, guest rooms/suites, equipment, linens are clean and in good repair advise team members of areas of improvements.
• Support in handling complaints and special requests and needs of the guests, VIPs and repeat visitors to achieve complete guest satisfaction.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other department managers.
• May assist with deep cleaning projects and/or assist housekeeping staff during high volume periods.
• Perform housekeeping duties necessary, including making beds as well as vacuuming and cleaning guest suites to ensure guest satisfaction.

• You´re studying a bachelor´s/master´s degree in hospitality or a related field.
• You have the possibility to sign an agreement with your school for a period of preferably 6 months.
