Turner & Townsend seeks an experienced High Voltage Project Engineer to lead HV substation design for major Data Centre projects in the Madrid area. You will manage interfaces between HV infrastructure and facility power systems, and represent the client on site with TSOs, DSOs, EPCs and contractors.

The role requires a degree in Engineering, strong HV experience, data centre exposure, and fluency in Spanish and English. On-site presence in Madrid is expected as projects progress.

• Degree in Engineering (BSc / MSc or equivalent)

• Data centre project experience is a strong advantage
• Willing to be on-site in Madrid; fluent in Spanish and English

We're seeking an experienced High Voltage Project Engineer to join our team for major Data Centre projects based in Madrid area, Spain. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of high-voltage civil works, utility/grid interface experience, and the ability to manage contractors, ensure compliance, and represent the client's interests throughout design and construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end HV substation design activities from concept studies, Grid Connection Agreements and FEED (Front End Engineering Design) through to detailed design.
• Coordinate interfaces between incoming HV infrastructure and internal facility power systems, including generators, UPS, MSBs, and switchgear.
• Support and oversee commissioning activities, SAP (Senior Authorised Person) switching protocols, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Coordinate HV civil engineering packages associated with grid connection projects.
• Act as the client's on-site representative with TSOs, DSOs, EPCs, and contractors.
• Review designs, method statements, construction drawings, and technical documentation.
• Ensure adherence to applicable regulations, safety standards, quality requirements, and project specifications.
• Monitor project risks, change management activities, and progress reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Engineering (BSc / MSc or equivalent experience)
• Strong background in HV substations, transmission/distribution projects, or grid-related civil works
• Construction sector experience, ideally within a Data Centre environment
• Exposure to large scale complex projects, collaborating effectively and directly with client
• Excellent stakeholder management
• Ability to manage multiple interfaces and stakeholders simultaneously
• Experience in data centre projects is a strong advantage
• Fluent in Spanish and very good English language skills
• Willingness to be present on-site as required
