IRB Barcelona seeks to recruit a Health and Safety Section Head, part of the People and Academic Affairs Department, to oversee its in-house Health and Safety Service and to develop a safe working environment in compliance with legal regulations, while promoting a strong culture of health and safety awareness across the institute.

Responsibilities

• Manage the in-house Health & Safety Service in collaboration with the external prevention service.
• Draft, update and monitor Health & Safety documentation.
• Organize, coordinate, and monitor risk assessments, regular site inspections, emergency procedures, and the dissemination of information to all employees.
• Coordinate medical check‑ups.
• Plan and monitor annual Health & Safety actions.
• Monitor, investigate, and report on workplace accidents and incidents.
• Liaise with relevant authorities, organize and conduct audits of the Health & Safety System.
• Manage and coordinate Health & Safety training.
• Provide expert advice, information, and assessment on Health & Safety issues.
• Coordinate Occupational Risk Prevention activities.
• Assess and oversee the Health & Safety Committees.
• Oversee the facility's biosafety management, ensuring adherence to established protocols, regulatory compliance, and promotion of a safe working environment.
• Develop and maintain the Quality Management System, design and improve processes related to quality, and maintain policies, manuals, procedures, and records.

Requirements

Experience: at least 5 years in the role.

Knowledge

• Degree in Risk Prevention, Science or related degree.
• Occupational risk prevention degree or Master's degree in Occupational Risk Prevention, with all three specialisations (Security in the workplace, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics, and Psychosociology) preferably with a scientific university degree (biology, chemistry, etc.).

Skills

Languages

High level of both spoken and written English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in this sector.
• Training and experience in biosafety.
