A multinational leader in industrial technology solutions is seeking a Head of Innovation based in Asturias. This role involves leading innovation strategy and technological development in Spain. The ideal candidate will drive project delivery, promote cross-organisational innovation, and manage engineering teams with over 10 years of experience. Strong knowledge in technology platforms and a degree in Engineering are essential.

Formación

• 10+ years of experience in industrial technology solutions.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading engineering teams.
• Broad knowledge of engineering disciplines, especially in automation.

From LHH Executive Search, we are looking for our client, a multinational leader in industrial technology solutions, to appoint the Head of Innovation, based in Asturias. The mission will be to lead the innovation strategy and technological development in Spain, driving the identification and evaluation of new technologies through proof of concept, ensuring alignment with sector macro trends and the global technology roadmap.

Main responsibilities

• Ensure project delivery on time, within budget and scope, maximising immediate business value and potential for future developments.
• Promote a culture of cross-organisational innovation, exploring disruptive technologies and their application in the industry.
• Maintain and expand strategic relationships with the research and entrepreneurial community, representing the company on advisory boards and innovation forums.
• Identify and attract engineering talent, leading a highly motivated team and collaborating with global partners to drive strategic projects.

Key technical competencies

• Knowledge of technology platforms and modular architectures, ensuring simplicity and scalability.
• Ability to identify and assess emerging technologies (AI, sensors, predictive maintenance, digital twins).
• Experience in transforming ideas into viable projects with clear economic return.
• Expertise in digitalisation and efficiency: use of smart sensors for remote maintenance and integration of AI and machine learning for process optimisation.
• Ability to monetise digital platforms and turn data into value.
• Knowledge of systems architecture, IoT, connectivity and digital platforms.
• Experience in global projects and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to translate technology into commercial impact.

Candidate profile

• Degree in Engineering with strong business vision. +10 years of experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading engineering teams and technology development projects.
• Broad knowledge of engineering disciplines, especially sensor systems, automation and manufacturing.
• Experience in project management, ideation and leadership of research teams.
• Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders and represent the company in international environments.
