Explore Group is seeking a Senior Data Engineering Manager to drive modernization of the core Data Platform across European hubs, including Barcelona, Milan, and Turin. This hybrid role requires strong leadership and hands-on data engineering expertise to guide a growing team.

You will own the roadmap for Data Lakehouse and Data Mesh initiatives, build robust ingestion pipelines, and ensure observability and governance across the platform.

Formación

• 5+ years in direct line management (10+ years total tech experience)
• Core Data Engineering background in scale-up digital product or SaaS environments (no consulting)
• Proficiency with Python, SQL, Snowflake, AWS, Terraform and Airflow
• EU work permit or citizenship required

Responsabilidades

• Engineering Leadership: Direct people management of an international engineering team, transitioning to a high-performing internal unit

Senior Data Engineering Manager

Locations: Milan, Turin, or Barcelona (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Salary: up to €105,000 base + 15% Bonus + Local benefits

Type: Permanent

We are partnering with a high-growth international digital product business looking for an established Senior Data Engineering Manager to drive a complete modernisation of their core Data Platform across European hubs.

What you’ll be doing:

• Engineering Leadership: Direct people management of an international engineering team, transitioning from a contractor setup to a high-performing internal unit.
• Platform Evolution: Leading the roadmap for modern Data Lakehouse and Data Mesh pilots.
• Architecture & Governance: Building robust batch ingestion pipelines, medallion architecture, and enforcing top-tier observability.

What we’re looking for:

• Leadership Tenure: 5+ years in direct line management (10+ years total tech experience).
• Domain Focus: Core Data Engineering background (not BI/Analytics) within scale-up digital product or SaaS environments (no consulting background).
• Tech Stack: Python, SQL, Snowflake, AWS, Terraform, and Airflow.
• Eligibility: Must possess a valid EU work permit or citizenship
