Head of Business Development

We are seeking a Head of Business Development to drive growth within a Contract Research Organisation. This role leads a team to cultivate client relationships and generate revenue with pharmaceutical and biotech clients. The focus is on expanding CRO services in drug discovery and early‑phase clinical development.

The business development leader will collaborate with Europe and global teams to pursue new opportunities, address client inquiries, and support strategic initiatives. This position also partners with marketing to promote services and enhance client engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team to identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities with pharmaceutical and biotech clients.
  • Manage strategic relationships with key accounts in Europe and represent the company at conferences, client meetings, and online events.
  • Act on leads generated from sales and marketing campaigns and support marketing initiatives such as tradeshows, webinars, and seminars to increase visibility and client engagement.
  • Develop quarterly business development plans, benchmark team performance, stay informed on industry trends, and travel as needed across Europe and globally.
Qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience at a pharmaceutical company, biotech, or CRO, with a proven track record in leading a team.
  • Strong scientific expertise and insight into drug discovery and drug development.
  • Professional degree in science or pharmaceuticals (M.S. required; PhD preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience leading a multi‑national, highly professional team, including senior members.
