A renewable energy company in Spain is seeking a Grid Connection Engineer to manage and deliver grid connection processes for renewable energy projects. The candidate will ensure compliance with Spanish grid regulations and coordinate with Transmission System Operators. The ideal applicant will have a degree in Electrical Engineering, chartered status, and proficiency in Spanish and English. Formación

• 5+ years of experience in grid connection engineering.
• Proven experience with Spanish power sector regulations.

Position: Grid Connection Engineer

Type: Contract / Freelance

Location: Spain

The Role

In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing and delivering grid connection processes for renewable energy projects across Spain. You will lead the application, design, and implementation phases of grid connections, ensuring compliance with Spanish grid regulations and coordination with the relevant Transmission System Operator (TSO) and Distribution Network Operators (DSOs).

Key responsibilities include

• Managing grid connection applications and securing permits in line with Spanish grid codes.
• Liaising with Red Eléctrica de España (REE) and regional distribution companies to ensure timely connection approvals.
• Developing LV / HV design solutions and resolving technical challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
• Supporting project managers with technical documentation, commissioning activities, and feasibility assessments.
• Providing input to senior management for technical proposals and case study development.

The Person

• Degree in Electrical or Power Engineering (or related field).
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional status with 5+ years of experience in grid connection engineering.
• Proven experience managing grid connection processes within the Spanish power sector.
• Strong understanding of Spain’s transmission and distribution network regulations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in Spanish and English (written and spoken).
• Must have the right to work in Spain.
