Job summary

Hitachi Energy Spain, S.A.U. in Madrid is seeking a Control Application Engineer to lead control and protection software for FACTS projects worldwide. You will work in Hitachi Energy’s Global Center of Competence for FACTS engineering, collaborating with global teams and customers.

The role covers the full project lifecycle from tender through energization at site, with opportunities to travel to customer sites and join an international team in Europe.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. in Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems or related field.
• Experience in software development, programming and testing.
• Engineering experience in control theory, power systems, or FACTS/HVDC is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test and debug control logic and power control algorithms for FACTS devices.
• Perform combined testing of the control system software and hardware using real-time simulators.
• Read customer specifications and verify compliance in factory acceptance tests.
• Maintain extensive contact with other engineering groups, lead engineers, local offices and customers.
• Travel to site to assist energization and ensure safe startup and operation of systems.
• Demonstrate responsibility and ownership with effective daily planning.
