Job summary

Hitachi Energy is hiring a Control Application Engineer to lead the control and protection software in FACTS projects across the globe. You will design, implement, test and verify control logic and power control algorithms, using realtime simulators and collaborating with international teams in Madrid.

The role requires a MSc in Engineering with a focus on power systems, strong software development skills, and fluent English; Spanish is an advantage.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. in Engineering with power systems or related field.
• Experience in software development, programming and testing.
• Engineering experience in control theory, power systems, FACTS, or HVDC is beneficial.
• Fluent English; Spanish language skills are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test and debug control logic and power control algorithms for FACTS devices.
• Perform combined testing of the control system software and hardware using realtime simulators.
• Understand customer needs by reading specifications, participating in meetings and verifying requirements in factory acceptance tests.
• Maintain extensive contact with other engineering groups, lead engineers and customers throughout the project.
• Travel to site to assist energization and ensure safe startup and performance.
