• 5+ years of experience in general ledger and financial accounting.
• Strong understanding of month-end and year-end close.
• Experience with intercompany accounting and multi-entity environments.
• Excellent Excel skills and ERP familiarity.
• Professional fluency in English and Spanish.

Responsabilidades

• Own balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting.

• Review accounting work by external advisors and ensure accuracy.
• Work with external advisors to strengthen and internalize accounting processes.
• Act as a key point of contact for external auditors and coordinate accounting-related requests.
• Support the corporate Finance team in California with accounting and reporting requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

Vista Investments is a privately held real estate investment and hospitality company with operations in the United States and Europe. We own, operate, develop and manage hospitality and real estate assets, working closely between our European team and our corporate office in California.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced GL Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team in Madrid.

Part of our accounting function is currently supported by external accounting advisors. A key objective of this role will be to work closely with these partners, understand and review the accounting currently performed externally, and progressively bring greater accounting knowledge, control and ownership in-house.

We are looking for a strong accountant who understands the full accounting cycle and can take ownership of closing processes, financial statements and the relationship with external auditors and advisors.

Key Responsibilities

• Take an active role in monthly, quarterly and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, reclassifications and other closing adjustments.
• Own balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting.
• Support intercompany accounting and consolidation activities across group entities.
• Review accounting work performed by external advisors and ensure accuracy and appropriate accounting treatment.
• Work with external advisors to progressively strengthen and internalize accounting processes and knowledge.
• Act as a key point of contact for external auditors and coordinate accounting-related requests.
• Support the corporate Finance team in California with accounting and reporting requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in General Ledger, financial accounting, external audit or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of the full accounting cycle and month/year-end close.
• Experience preparing or reviewing financial statements.
• Experience with consolidation, intercompany accounting and multi-entity environments is highly valued.
• Experience working directly with external auditors and accounting/tax advisors.
• External audit experience, particularly Big Four or another leading audit firm, is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
• Good Excel skills and experience with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus.
• Knowledge of Spanish GAAP (PGC); US GAAP exposure is highly valued.
• Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Real estate, hospitality or international experience is a plus.

We are looking for someone who can take accounting ownership, not simply process transactions.

Someone comfortable reviewing the work of external advisors, understanding how the financial statements are built, identifying issues and progressively becoming an internal accounting reference for the business.
