Job summary

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) in Badalona near Barcelona hosts a GTS group focused on molecular characterization of Lewy body diseases. We seek a Research Technician with a Master’s to join an ambitious project investigating platelet-derived biomarkers for Lewy body disorders, including Olink data analysis and brain cell culture work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Science with special focus in molecular and cellular biology and/or neuroscience.
• Master’s degree with special focus in neurosciences.
• Strong experience in molecular biology techniques (DNA and RNA isolation, RNA quantification, PCR and genotyping).
• Experience in cell culture and microscopy.
• Experience in sample handling and processing.
• Experience in AS-SAA analysis.
• Minimum of two years of work experience.
• Advanced knowledge Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge in databases (good knowledge of excel required).
• Knowledge RStudio and data analysis.
• To be able to work independently and take initiative.
• Take an active part of the team.
• Be accurate and have a strong feeling of responsibility, and be perseverant and have a strong ambition to learn.
• English level corresponding to C1 (certification required)
• Good oral and written communications skills.
• The following skills will be positively evaluated: Rare Diseases Course: From Diagnosis to Therapy; Neurological Pathology Training; Image G; Fundamentals and Applications in Flow Cytometry; Good practices in research

Responsibilities

• Assist in sample obtaining and processing.
• Conduct RNA expression studies including data analyses.
• Conduct genotyping using RFLP and Sanger sequencing.
• Interpret results, present and discuss them.
• Draft manuscripts / manuscript sections.
• Participate in updating and maintaining laboratory databases.
• Laboratory management (availability and readiness of laboratory materials and reagents)
