Alan is seeking a talented engineer to join their Claims Management team in Barcelona, Spain. You will play a key role in creating a user-friendly claims experience for members across Europe and building infrastructure for quick refunds. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in complex systems, is passionate about user experience, and is familiar with modern web technologies. The position offers a stimulating work environment with the flexibility of remote work, focusing on collaboration and growth.

What You’ll Build

You will join Claims Management, responsible for refunding €350M+ of healthcare expenses each year to 1M+ members across France, Belgium, Spain, and Canada. Our mission is to refund each member as fast as possible and accurately, while being cost‑effective for Alan.

Product Crews

• Document Processing: 2M documents received every year. We automatically parse a good portion with LLMs and want to go further.
• Claims Experience: Build a memorable and straightforward experience for members to understand guarantees and get a claim refunded across 4 countries, mobile and desktop.
• Payments: Build a payment infrastructure and source ingestion system to ensure members receive refunds quickly and don't need to advance money.
• Fraud Fighting: 4M€ saved in 2024 with an internal stack combining machine‑learning scoring, anomaly detection, and manual investigations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building complex systems that run 24/7 during high‑growth trajectories.
• Passionate about creating delightful products with exceptional user experiences at scale.
• Experience building and shipping web applications.
• Interest in the business side: understanding conversion funnels, marketing metrics, and growth drivers.
• Clear career progression: increasing responsibility, scope, and impact over time.
• Comfortable with TypeScript and Python in a cross‑platform environment; familiar with modern web technologies and object‑oriented programming (Python, Java, Swift, Kotlin, or C#).
• Self‑starting and entrepreneurial mindset.
• Humble and open to growth.

• English working proficiency.

Engineering Team

Our stack is React, Python/Flask, PostgreSQL in a monorepo. We deploy daily and believe in distributed ownership: you build it, you own it.

Location & Remote
