Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated is seeking an embedded firmware engineer to design, implement and test firmware for electronic equipment used in Smart Grid, gas and water utility markets.

You will develop software for enhancements, design embedded systems with microcontrollers, interfaces, and verify via test plans. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and supporting existing products are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Three to five years of embedded firmware programming experience
• Experience with microprocessor-based design and interfacing analog/digital devices
• Proficiency in C for embedded systems and debugging in IDEs
• Strong understanding of real-time systems, interrupts, threads, scheduling and semaphores
• Experience with Ethernet, I2C, RS232/RS485/422, SPI, BLE protocols

Job description

As a member of the development team, the candidate will participate in the design, implementation and test of the firmware for electronic equipment in the electrical Smart Grid,gas and water utility markets.

What will help you thrive in this role?

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, equivalent Engineering degree or commensurate experience (required)

Three to five years of embedded firmware/software programming experience (required)

In-depth experience with embedded microprocessor-based design including interfacing to analog and digital devices

Practical, hands-on knowledge of C programming for embedded systems including use of a variety of IDEs for development and debug

Strong understanding of real-time systems, managing interrupts, threads, scheduling, semaphores, and state machines with and without an RTOS

Hands on knowledge of various standard wired and wireless network communication protocols and topologies, including Ethernet, I2C, RS232, RS485/422, SPI, BLE
