Job summary

SIDEL in Barcelona is seeking a Field Service Engineer - Mechanical to install, commission and service high-tech packaging machinery on site. This permanent, on-site role requires frequent travel and hands-on diagnostics across major industrial clients in Spain and abroad.

You will work within a global team, receive comprehensive training, and grow your technical skills while delivering reliable maintenance and customer-focused service in multilingual environments.

Qualifications

• Technical degree in automation, mechatronics, electrotechnics, or industrial maintenance.
• Fluent in English and able to work in a multicultural team.
• Willingness to travel extensively (often >90%).
• Strong technical curiosity and eagerness to learn continuously.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission and test Sidel equipment and production lines.
• Troubleshoot and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical machines in high-speed lines.
• Provide precise technical diagnostics and propose corrective actions to support teams.
• Administrate equipment upgrades and optimisation.
• Collaborate with project managers and technical support to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Train client operators and maintenance technicians for efficient equipment handling.
• Report after-sales opportunities and ensure safety compliance on site.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission and test Sidel equipment, including single machines and complete production lines
• Troubleshoot, prevent and adopt corrective maintenance on mechanical machines within high-speed production lines
• Execute precise technical diagnostics, share feedback with internal support teams and propose corrective actions
• Administrate equipment upgrades and optimisation
• Collaborate closely with project managers and technical support teams to ensure customer satisfaction
• Train and empower client operators and maintenance technicians to ensure efficient equipment handling
• Report after sales opportunities detected on Customer site; Comply fully with Sidel and client safety rules, with clear communications throughout interventions

Your Profile

• Technical degree (automation, mechatronics, electrotechnics, industrial maintenance…)
• Strong technical curiosity and eagerness to learn continuously
• Field experience preferred or strong motivation to learn on the job
• Fluent in English, essential for working in a multicultural team
• Willingness to travel extensively (often >90% of the time) and adapt to different international environments
• Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service mindset
