A health-tech company is seeking a Director of Data Privacy & Governance in Barcelona. The role emphasizes strategic oversight of privacy responsibilities, collaboration with various teams, and compliance with GDPR. Formación

  • 10 years’ experience in privacy law and/or data privacy programs.

Introduction To Role

The Evinova Director, Data Privacy & Governance provides strategic oversight to meet privacy responsibilities and hands-on privacy support for a growing global healthtech business. The role emphasizes Security, Privacy, and AI within the Data Governance program.

This role reports to the Head of Quality, Compliance, and Audit and collaborates with Cyber Security, Legal, Product, and Delivery teams. It serves as the central point of contact for data subjects and supervisory authorities in relevant markets, including the EU and Switzerland. The role also involves horizon scanning, advising on privacy matters, and managing the relationship with the external Data Protection Officer when needed. It supports ISO 27701 controls and Statement of Applicability to obtain and maintain certification, and may support privacy aspects of customer contract negotiations.

Accountabilities
  • Representative for data subjects and supervisory authorities relating to Evinova data processing activities
  • Maintain licenses, registrations, and local regulatory requirements for compliant processing and cross-border transfers
  • Partner with the DPO for responses to subject access requests
  • Support data protection impact assessments and serve as point of contact for privacy impact assessments
  • Report significant data breaches and advise on remediation, oversight, and trend analysis
  • Collaborate with Quality, Compliance, Cyber Security, Product, and Delivery to monitor privacy compliance and foster a global privacy mindset
  • Horizon scan key jurisdictions globally, including China, in consultation with legal and local resources
  • Support privacy aspects of customer contract negotiations and draft data processing agreements with appropriate transfer mechanisms
  • Develop and operationalize the data governance framework
  • Own the catalogue of Data Domains and assign accountable data owners
  • Oversee data governance maturity and drive a culture of good information management
  • Oversee data usage in analytics, BI, data science, and AI solutions
  • Manage data retention requirements and oversee execution
Crucial Skills / Experience
  • Legal degree or qualifications with 10 years’ experience in privacy law and/or data privacy programs
  • In-depth knowledge of GDPR, EU/EEA local data protection laws, UK Privacy Act and UK GDPR; familiarity with US, China, and other local regulations
  • Significant experience with privacy program elements, best practices/tools, and data governance frameworks
  • Experience in technology and/or life sciences sectors, with prior support for digital health products (Healthtech or SaaS)
  • Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills
  • Strong collaboration, partnering, and interpersonal skills with ability to influence across levels
  • High ethical standards and ability to act with discretion
  • Independent, objective thinker who can collaborate with stakeholders
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
