Universidad Politecnica de Cartagena invites applications for a First Stage Researcher position in Environmental Science. The role is permanent and full-time (37.5 hours per week) at GARSA-UPCT facilities, focusing on the management, processing and valorization of agricultural and livestock byproducts, and bioremediation of degraded soils.

The candidate will work on soil, water and emissions analysis, contributing to projects funded under the MAPMM framework and collaborating with related R&D&I

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences.
  • Proof of degree recognition for foreign degrees (including EU).
  • Fluent English for reading and writing scientific publications.

Responsabilidades

Offer Description

TYPE OF CONTRACT: Indefinite.

PROFESSIONAL CATEGORY: researcher with a bachelor's degree.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences.

For degrees obtained abroad (including those from the EU), applicants must provide proof that they have obtained the corresponding recognition or, where applicable, the credential attesting to the equivalence of their degree.

WEEKLY DEDICATION: The position will be full time, and the workweek will be 37,5 hours, carried out from Monday to Friday.

GROSS ANNUAL REMUNERATION: The employee will receive an annual gross salary of 48.274,74 euros

PROJECT TITLE: Management, processing, and valorization of agricultural and livestock byproducts, and bioremediation of degraded soils.

DURATION: The term of this contract will be contingent upon the availability of budgetary funds for the aforementioned line of research.

Current R&D&I activity:

“Biotechnologies Applied to the Treatment of Swine Manure on Pig Farms to Reduce Its Pollution Potential” (GMM07), funded by the Biodiversity Foundation, F.S.P., as part of the competitive grant program aimed at restoring the ecological functionality of the Mar Menor through environmental improvements in livestock farming, and under the Framework of Priority Actions to Restore the Mar Menor (MAPMM).

INTENDED DATE OF DEPUTY EMPLOYMENT: immediate.

TASKS TO BE CARRIED OUT:

  • Sampling and analysis of soil, manure, water, and plants.
  • Measurement of atmospheric emissions.
  • Maps of soil properties and characteristics.
  • Project-related reports.

PLACE OF WORK: GARSA-UPCT Laboratories and Facilities.

MERITS TO BE ASSESSED AND EVALUATION CRITERIA:

  • Academic Background (40%): The applicant’s academic record for the degree required for the position will be evaluated, as well as other official university degrees directly related to the position’s profile, particularly doctoral studies.
  • Specific training (5%): Training and continuing education courses that are directly related to the position’s profile.
  • Professional experience (40%): In soil sampling and the analysis of soil, water,plants, and waste. Experience in: chemical and biochemical properties and biological parameter sof soils, and in bioremediation.
  • Languages (5%): English, at a level sufficient for reading and writing scientific publications.
  • Other merits (5%): Other activities related to the job profile: courses taught, volunteer work, etc.
  • Personal interview (5%): An interview designed to assess the candidate’s suitability for the job profile and duties.
