Job summary

Powens Group, headquartered in Barcelona and Paris, seeks an Engineering Manager to lead EMI Services squad (10 people) and report to the CPTO. You will drive delivery, performance, and people management across Spain, fostering motivation and long‑term growth.

You’ll recruit, set goals, coach developers, and ensure alignment with regulatory and security requirements, while promoting AI adoption company‑wide.

Qualifications

• 2+ years leading engineering teams in fast-paced environments.
• Fluent in Spanish and English; French is a plus.
• Ability to mentor and guide team members.
• Balance between development quality and velocity in product delivery.
• Capable of articulating technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Python, Microservices Architecture, gRPC will be a plus.
• Prior fintech experience will be a plus.

About the role:

As Engineering Manager, you will directly report to the CPTO . You will sit on top of the “EMI Services” composed by Tech Leads, Software developers and QA (10 people). You will oversee the delivery and the technical performance for all the products developed and maintained by the squad.

A direct manager of developers in Spain, the Engineering Manager will drive ambition through leadership, and leverage its people management skills to build long‑term motivation and performance.

What will be your responsibilities?

• Participating in the Engineering Department's vision and organization to meet our development goals.
• Manage the development team of product oriented squads.
• Responsible for recruiting team members and participating in the onboarding of new hires, ensuring group cohesion and mindset.
• Setting goals and KPI to measure team performance and development quality. Use those metrics to understand and improve the teams’ effectiveness. Communicate this information (in insights) to management.
• Coach and provide support to Lead Developers, Developers and QAs.
• As Engineering Manager you will define and run the rituals necessary to ensure the delivery.
• Maintain a constant link between squads and external stakeholders to increase the teams’ business knowledge - don’t become a firewall
• Maintain a healthy understanding of the regulatory and security framework around Powens.
• Challenge technical decisions, help team members define the best technical solution to meet the business objectives
• Drive AI adoption across the team, champion use cases within Powens’ AI Chapter, and measure impact with concrete metrics.

What qualities and skills are required?

• At least 2 years of proven experience in supporting and managing engineering teams in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating successful team development and project delivery.
• Fluent in Spanish and English,French will be a plus.
• Ability to mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, productivity, and continuous learning within the team.
• Able to balance between development quality and velocity in the product delivery.
• Capable of clearly articulating technical concepts to diverse stakeholders (Product, DevOps, Compliance and Legal).
• Knowledge of Python, Microservices Architecture, gRPC will be a plus.
• Prior experience in a fintech environment will be a plus.

Hiring process

• Case study resolution and an online discussion meeting with the CPTO and another EM or SPM.
• On site interview with Tech Leads and Product Owner.
• Call with the CHRO.

Salary range = 70k-75k fix + 5k variable
