Capitole is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead software engineering teams, shaping technical direction and delivery in a matrixed organization. You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and partner with Product, IT, DevOps, and other functions to ensure high-quality outputs.

The role requires strong leadership, cloud/DevOps experience, and a solid SDLC background. English proficiency (B2+) is mandatory, with two days per week from our Barcelona office in a hybrid setup.

• Experience as an Engineering Manager or similar leadership role.
• Strong background in software product development and SDLC.
• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud) and DevOps.
• Familiar with Agile methodologies and cross-functional collaboration.
• Excellent stakeholder management and people leadership.
• Professional English (B2+) and willingness to work from Barcelona office two days a week.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and develop software engineering teams, ensuring strong technical execution, high-quality delivery, and continuous professional growth. You will play a key role in people management, engineering leadership, technical decision-making, delivery planning, and stakeholder coordination, working closely with senior management and cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.

Experience in software engineering, cloud platforms, DevOps, APIs, automation, and Agile environments will be considered essential for the role.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of software engineers, fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performing culture through mentoring, coaching, feedback, performance management, and career development.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance, supporting complex technical challenges, architectural decisions, and the adoption of scalable, maintainable, secure solutions and engineering best practices.
• Plan, prioritize, and allocate engineering capacity and resources, managing priorities, dependencies, risks, and timelines to ensure successful delivery of software products and technology solutions.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, IT, DevOps, Architecture, business, and other cross-functional teams, ensuring effective coordination from planning and development through deployment and release.
• Act as a key point of contact for senior management and stakeholders, ensuring alignment on priorities, progress, risks, dependencies, and business objectives within a matrixed organization.
• Monitor engineering processes, delivery performance, quality standards, and the adoption of Agile, DevOps, automation, frameworks, and continuous improvement practices.
• Estimate project and team resource requirements, monitor project progress, and take corrective action where required to ensure efficient delivery and resource utilization.

Requirements

• Previous experience as an Engineering Manager, Software Engineering Manager, Development Manager, Engineering Lead, or similar leadership role, with proven experience managing, developing, and planning resources for software engineering teams.
• Strong background in software engineering and software product development, with a solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle and modern engineering practices.
• Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, together with a good understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, automation, deployment processes, and APIs.
• Experience working with software frameworks and Agile methodologies, ideally in collaborative, cross-functional and matrixed environments.
• Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex issues, make sound technical decisions, and support effective solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, leadership, and people management skills, with the ability to motivate teams, manage performance, provide constructive feedback, and foster professional development.
• Strong sense of accountability, ownership, judgement, and decision-making, with the ability to take calculated risks when appropriate.
• Professional English (B2+) is mandatory, together with availability to work two days per week from Barcelona office.
