Wellfound is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a strong, autonomous team delivering core internal infrastructure and developer-facing systems. You will guide architecture, drive delivery across interconnected areas, and partner with Product to plan roadmaps and releases.

You will mentor senior engineers, optimize CI/CD and release workflows, and shape platform improvements while balancing technical debt with long-term scalability.

Formación

• Strong software engineering background with engineering management experience.
• Experience leading senior, autonomous engineers.
• Background in platform engineering, developer infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Experience with CI/CD, release engineering, or internal platforms.
• Strong planning, execution, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to balance technical trade-offs without needing to be deepest expert.
• Experience hiring, coaching, and developing engineers.
• Pragmatic approach to processes to enhance execution without bureaucracy.

We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a strong and autonomous team building core internal infrastructure and developer-facing systems.

The team owns foundational components used by other engineering teams and services, including internal libraries, data transformation infrastructure, CI workflows, and integration tooling.

What You'll Do

• Lead, coach, and develop experienced engineers while maintaining a high level of team autonomy.
• Own planning, prioritization, and delivery across several interconnected technical areas.
• Improve visibility into priorities, dependencies, timelines, and ownership.
• Balance product commitments with technical debt and long-term platform improvements.
• Improve engineering workflows, including CI/CD, release processes, code review, and collaboration across repositories.
• Identify and remove delivery bottlenecks and unnecessary manual coordination.
• Partner with Product and other engineering teams on roadmap, priorities, and releases.
• Stay close to technology by participating in architecture and design discussions and, where relevant, code reviews and technical investigations.

What We're Looking For

• Strong software engineering background combined with engineering management experience.
• Experience managing senior, autonomous engineers.
• Background in platform engineering, developer infrastructure, developer productivity, backend infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Experience with CI/CD, developer tooling, release engineering, or internal platforms.
• Strong planning, execution, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to understand complex technical trade-offs without needing to be the deepest expert in every area.
• Experience hiring, coaching, and developing engineers.
• Pragmatic approach to processes - creating enough structure to improve execution without adding unnecessary bureaucracy.

Experience with Go, Rust, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Docker, cloud infrastructure, observability, or AI-assisted development would be a plus.
