Die Position

Healthcare is evolving, and Global Procurement is responding by continuously striving for the highest possible performance, taking innovative and strategic approaches to business and supplier partnerships. Global Procurement proactively manages the gesamte Lieferanten‑Ökosystems, making a vital contribution to improving health outcomes, reducing costs for patients and global healthcare systems, and ensuring that Roche continues doing now what patients need next.

As an Engagement Manager in the Global Procurement function, you will be part of an integrated Communications and Engagement team. Our purpose is to advance engagement and organisational alignment through strategic, data-driven communications that amplify how we connect with our colleagues across the function, and to position communications as a strategic partner in how Procurement operates and adds value.

Reporting to the Procurement Communications & Engagement Lead, your primary responsibility will be to identify and shape communication and engagement demand across the procurement function, develop and execute communication strategies, create and manage content, measure communications impact, and support procurement leadership and project teams in engaging their stakeholders effectively. You will work across a portfolio that includes both comms‑owned programmes and strategic partnership with procurement initiatives and transformation projects.

You will work closely with Procurement leadership and their teams to translate strategic priorities into evidence‑based programmes that drive awareness, understanding, stakeholder alignment, and engagement across the organisation and the wider Roche community.

Your Key Responsibilities

As an Engagement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering strategic business requirements, including:

  • Communication Strategy and Narrative Development: Partner with procurement leadership to identify, structure, and validate high‑impact communication priorities. Translate business objectives, stakeholder needs, and audience insights into clear communication strategies and compelling narratives that shape how the function is understood internally and externally.
  • Demand Identification and Shaping: Proactively engage with procurement leadership and cross‑functional teams to understand emerging priorities and transformation initiatives. Advise on where communications and engagement can add strategic value, and shape how demand is framed and articulated — moving from responsive delivery to strategic partnership.
  • Strategic Project and Stakeholder Partnership: Support procurement leadership and project teams in defining communication and engagement strategies for major initiatives, transformation programmes, and stakeholder‑critical projects. Partner in translating project objectives into clear stakeholder engagement approaches that build alignment and support successful delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Research: Conduct stakeholder mapping, research, and feedback analysis to understand audience needs and inform communication and engagement approach. Build and maintain strong relationships across procurement leadership, business functions, and employee populations to inform strategic insight.
  • Content Creation and Multimedia Production: Design and produce multimedia content assets (video, graphics, digital design, interactive content) across multiple channels. Ensure consistency, quality, and strategic alignment in all communication materials.
  • Metrics Development and Impact Measurement: Develop and manage metrics frameworks that demonstrate the real impact of communications and engagement programmes. Analyse feedback data, engagement metrics, and audience insights to inform continuous improvement and demonstrate value to procurement leadership.
  • Strategic Programme Delivery: Own or co‑lead key communications and engagement initiatives and workstreams as part of the multi‑year communications roadmap. Manage scope, timelines, dependencies, success metrics, and stakeholder expectations across complex matrix environments.
  • Digital and Emerging Technology Integration: Leverage digital tools, emerging technologies (including AI), and employee engagement platforms to enhance communication reach, personalisation, and effectiveness. Support the integration of new digital solutions into communications and engagement delivery.
  • Capability Building and Organisational Embedding: Work to embed communications and engagement thinking across procurement teams and projects. Advise procurement leaders and project owners on how to communicate and engage effectively, building internal capability and positioning communications as core to how the function operates.
Who You Are

You are a communications and engagement professional with the ability to combine strategic thinking, analytical rigour, creative execution, and enterprise delivery discipline. You are comfortable working across communication strategy development, audience research, content production, data analysis, and delivery management. You think like a strategic partner, not a service provider.

  • Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, organisational development, communications strategy, or related field.
  • Strategic Partnership Mindset: Proven experience working as a strategic partner to business leaders - not just executing their briefs, but helping them shape and articulate their communication and engagement needs. Comfortable advising leadership on communication strategy and challenging thinking where appropriate.
  • Communications Strategy Track Record: Proven experience developing and delivering communications strategies that drive organisational alignment and engagement. Demonstrated ability to move communications initiatives from discovery through planning, execution, and measurement in complex enterprise environments.
  • Demand Identification & Insight: Ability to engage proactively with stakeholders to identify emerging needs, spot opportunities for communications and engagement to add value, and translate business objectives into communication strategy. Comfortable working in ambiguity and shaping demand as well as responding to it.
  • Metrics and Data Capability: Strong understanding of communications measurement, data analysis, feedback evaluation, and audience research methods. Ability to develop metrics frameworks that connect communications activity to real business outcomes.
  • Creative and Multimedia Skills: Demonstrated capability in multimedia creation and editing (video, graphics, digital design tools). Ability to independently produce high‑quality content while knowing when to collaborate with specialist partners.
  • Digital and Technology Fluency: Strong comfort with digital tools, emerging technologies (including AI), Google and Microsoft 365 suites, and employee engagement platforms. Understanding of how digital solutions can enhance communications delivery.
  • Cross‑functional Communication and Stakeholder Leadership: Strong communication skills with the ability to engage procurement leaders, colleagues across business functions, IT and Digital teams, external partners, and senior management. Comfortable building relationships and influencing thinking at multiple levels.
  • Enterprise Solution Readiness: Understanding of enterprise requirements such as data protection, compliance, governance, and integration with existing business systems and processes. Comfortable working in complex, regulated environments.
  • Language: Native level English fluency. Fluent Spanish (spoken and written).
  • Education: Degree in Communications, Business Management, Organisational Development, or a related field.
Preferred experience

Knowledge of the pharmaceutical or healthcare sectors; familiarity with procurement in regulated or complex enterprise environments, experience with internal communications research and evaluation tools; experience working on transformation or change programmes.
