Job summary

Geotab Inc. seeks an Embedded Developer to design, implement, and test firmware for GO telematics devices using C, C++, and Rust. You will work with embedded teams across hardware, software, and QA to ensure robust, high‑quality releases.

You will perform unit tests, code reviews, and troubleshooting on real and simulated targets, write test tooling, and contribute to architecture decisions while thriving in a fast paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking RTOS and Linux.
• Strong knowledge of programming languages (C/C++/C#) in an embedded software context, plus data structures, algorithms and design patterns for resource-constrained systems.
• Hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets; able to read schematics and component data sheets.
• Experience with SQL, encryption or cryptographic modules and understanding electronics affecting firmware development.
• Experience programming in Rust; proficiency with scripting languages like Bash, Python, or TCL is highly valued.
• Post-secondary Diploma/Degree with a specialization in CS/CE/EE or related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform firmware development in embedded areas, write unit tests, conduct code reviews, and identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with other embedded engineers and internal teams to determine architecture and constraints.
• Write unit tests and perform integration and system-level testing in real and simulated vehicles.
• Keep documentation up to date across areas of responsibility.
