A satellite communications technology company is seeking a Senior Satellite Communication Systems Architect to lead the design of a new LEO communications constellation. This role requires a Master's degree in Telecommunication, expertise in satellite network design, and familiarity with agile methodologies. The position is permanent and based in Barcelona, with occasional travel throughout Europe.

Role Overview

Senior Satellite Communication Systems Architect. Main reference in design of a new LEO satellite communications constellation.

Responsibilities

• 10+ years in Satellite Network Design and Implementation
• Experience in sizing of telecommunication channels of the network
• Expertise on network protocols, understanding of satellite communication protocols (DVB-S2, DVB-RCS, TDMA, SCPC)
• Understanding of link‑budget and related trade‑offs
• Expertise in bandwidth and power allocation, traffic management and QoS, and network simulation / emulation
• Familiar with satellite ground station equipment (modems, antennas, RF systems)
• Understanding of applicable security standards and implications in the architecture
• Knowledge of applicable regulatory (FCC, ITU)
• Experience with engineering methodology
• Understand requirements and transform them into specifications and the right technical design (tools for engineering process welcomed e.g. Doors, Jama)
• Design innovative architectures; be ready to challenge your own design, to be challenged and to enjoy with that
• Define validation strategies and roadmaps, prototype and validate architectures, define product / system development roadmaps
• Design to perform and scale, reusable architectures and components
• Define and implement the final solution
• Contribute to the definition of test and validation strategies for the final design and specifications
• Work using agile procedures, ceremonies, and tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, CI / CD), adapted to the space industry
• Be comfortable with surpassing challenges and learning every day

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Telecommunication (MS or higher strongly advised)
• Experience managing technical teams and interfacing different stakeholders
• Experience operating with mission‑critical systems and with high levels of security
• Eligibility for security clearance of EU systems

Location & Travel

Positions are permanent and full‑time. Working in Barcelona, with travel from time to time to meet customers across Europe. If you have a different proposition about your location let us know from the beginning and we will decide together if feasible.
