Altia is seeking a Database Engineer to join our European team on international projects for a major European Agency. You will design and optimize data models, schemas, and queries across multiple DBMS to ensure data integrity and performance.

The role requires strong SQL, data modeling, and exposure to relational (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases, with test-driven development and deployment support.

Formación

• Must have data modelling knowledge and experience with Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler, Hackolade or NoSQL Workbench.
• Experience with database IDEs (Oracle SQL Developer, DBeaver, pgAdmin, SQL Workbench/J) for schema management and queries.
• Strong understanding of relational DBs (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and non-relational DBs (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra, CosmosDB).
• Solid SQL knowledge and procedural SQL extensions (PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL).
• Familiarity with unit testing frameworks (utPLSQL, SQLTest) and repeatable tests for database logic.
• Experience in database release management, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high availability.
• Knowledge of data security/compliance and a high level of English.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to represent business requirements and ensure data integrity.
• Design performant, secure, and scalable database schemas, tables, views, indexes, and relationships based on approved data models.
• Implement database designs by writing and optimizing DDL scripts for various DBMS.
• Develop, maintain and integrate database components.
• Translate user and application requirements into efficient database structures, stored procedures, and functions.
• Prototype database solutions for validation with stakeholders before production rollout.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for database components, including unit tests and data integrity tests.
• Write technical documentation.
• Assist with deployment and configuration of the system.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, conduct query optimization, and implement indexing strategies.

Minimum Requirements

Required Knowledge

• Knowledge of data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical) and experience with tools like Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler, Hackolade, or NoSQL Workbench.
• Experience with database IDEs (Oracle SQL Developer, DBeaver, pgAdmin, SQL Workbench/J) for schema management and queries.
• Good knowledge of relational database systems (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle).
• Good knowledge of non-relational database systems (e.g. MongoDB, Dynamo DB, Cassandra, CosmosDb).
• Good knowledge of SQL.
• Good knowledge of procedural SQL extensions, such as PL/SQL for Oracle or PL/pgSQL for PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of unit testing frameworks (utPLSQL, SQLTest) and ability to design repeatable tests for database logic.
• Good experience of database release management.
• Knowledge of performance optimization (query tuning, indexing, execution plans).
• Experience with backup, recovery, and high-availability (replication, clustering).
• Knowledge of data security and compliance practices.
• High level of English.

Main Responsibilitie

• Prototype database solutions (schemas, queries, test datasets) for validation with stakeholders before production rollout.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for database components, including unit tests for stored procedures and data integrity tests.
• Writing of technical documentation.
• Assistance with deployment and configuration of the system.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, conduct query optimization, and implement indexing strategies.
