Da Vinci Engineering GmbH in Madrid is seeking a Database Administrator Engineer (m/f/d) with Mandarin Chinese to manage and support databases across cloud and production environments, ensuring health, performance, and security.

You will work with China-based teams, perform installations, upgrades, backups, migrations, and develop monitoring and automation. The role requires 3+ years of experience, strong SQL knowledge, and GDPR awareness; English fluent.

Formación

• 3+ years in database administration or similar role.
• Hands-on with at least one major RDBMS, preferably MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience in performance analysis, backup/recovery and HA.
• Familiar with caching technologies such as Redis or Memcached.
• Proficient Linux administration and networking basics (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS).
• Experience with Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring.
• GDPR/eu data-protection knowledge.
• Fluent Mandarin and professional English.

• Identify opportunities to improve reliability, resource use, and cost efficiency.
• Ensure GDPR compliance in database operations.
• Participate in on-call rotations.

Your tasks:

• Manage and support relational databases, caching solutions and associated middleware across cloud and production environments


• Monitor database health, availability, capacity and performance, identifying and addressing potential operational issues proactively


• Investigate and resolve database incidents, performance problems and resource constraints


• Handle database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, backup and recovery activities, as well as regular maintenance


• Support database migrations, releases and other controlled changes in production environmentsSet up and maintain monitoring, alerting and automation for database services and develop related operational procedures


• Work closely with technical teams in China, using Mandarin Chinese to align database and middleware management practices


• Provide database-related technical support to application teams, particularly during troubleshooting and production deployments


• Identify opportunities to improve database reliability, resource utilisation and overall cost efficiency


• Ensure database operations and data handling processes comply with applicable European data-protection regulations


• Participate in an occasional on-call rotation for critical production incidents

Your profile:

• At least 3 years of professional experience in database administration, database operations or a similar position


• Strong hands-on experience with at least one major relational database system, preferably MySQL or PostgreSQL


• Practical knowledge of database performance analysis, query optimisation, backup and recovery processes, and high-availability solutions


• Experience working with at least one caching technology, such as Redis or Memcached


• Good knowledge of Linux and common networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP and HTTP/HTTPS


• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Prometheus and Grafana


• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with experience supporting databases in production environments


• Good understanding of GDPR and European data-protection requirements


• Fluent Mandarin Chinese and professional working proficiency in English
