SITA is seeking a Data Engineer in Barcelona to accelerate airline onboarding by turning heterogeneous systems into trusted data for OCCam, our AI-powered Operations Control Center. You will build a common datalake and canonical data model, own pipeline data quality, and collaborate with Back‑End and Science teams on reliable data.

• Hands-on experience with Airflow and ETL/ELT design.

• Familiarity with AWS data services and data-quality frameworks.
• Understanding of airline operational data and GDPR/data privacy requirements.

Purpose

As a Data Engineer, you will accelerate new airline onboarding by ingesting heterogeneous airline systems and external sources, and turning them into trusted data for OCCam, SITA’s AI‑powered Operations Control Center solution that helps airlines manage and recover from operational disruptions.

You will be accountable for building a common datalake and canonical data model that the product, Back‑End and Science teams can rely on.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering – Disruption Management Solutions (OCCam), you will be part of the OCCam team. We are hiring two Data Engineers to grow the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Ingest heterogeneous airline systems and external sources into OCCam’s data platform
• Build a common datalake and canonical data model that the product reads from
• Own data quality at the pipeline level, including checks, reconciliation and issue investigation
• Partner closely with Back‑End and Science teams so product features and algorithms are built on reliable data
• Work on several airline integrations in parallel, accelerating client onboarding and keeping delivery organized and well documented
• Map airline source schemas into a canonical data dictionary and document assumptions clearly

Qualifications

Experience

• You are proficient in Python and SQL across relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle
• You have hands‑on experience with Airflow and ETL or ELT design
• You understand datalakes, data modeling and canonical data model design
• You can work with MSSQL linked servers, schema mapping and source‑system reverse engineering
• You have experience with, or can quickly ramp up on, AWS data services and data‑quality frameworks
• You understand airline operational data such as schedules, crew, assignments and qualifications, or are ready to build that domain knowledge quickly
• You bring structured problem‑solving to messy real‑world data and can collaborate in client‑facing onboarding situations
• You have strong documentation discipline and a data‑trust mindset
• You understand the importance of handling personal data, including crew data, under GDPR and client data‑privacy requirements

Nice‑to‑Have

• Experience with airline operational systems such as Netline, SCHEDOPS, XCREW or similar
