Descripción del empleo

Description

Are you ready to keep the cloud running at a time of rapid growth? Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Services is expanding its data center footprint, and we need a Controls Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the building management system (BMS) and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS) that govern the mechanical and electrical infrastructure of our data centers. You will plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance, manage improvement projects, and collaborate with operations teams to ensure our facilities run safely and reliably.

This is a compelling time to join: you will have the opportunity to shape controls standards from the ground up while driving improvements across an expanding portfolio. If you are a self-starter who thrives on solving complex technical problems and wants to grow your expertise in mission-critical infrastructure, we want to hear from you.

Key job responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on BMS and EPMS systems, adjusting work plans based on equipment conditions and risk assessments to maintain safe, reliable data center operations.

  • Manage the scope, schedule, and execution of controls improvement projects, including developing the sequence of operations (SOO), modifying controls logic programming, and commissioning new systems during data center builds.

  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical control issues across generators, switchgear, chillers, cooling towers, and related infrastructure, escalating abnormal conditions when necessary and acting as an escalation point during incidents.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, design teams, and external vendors to review maintenance outcomes, align on project deliverables, and ensure all work complies with applicable codes and standards.

  • Contribute to process improvements and provide hands-on training to less‑experienced team members on equipment operation, BMS/EPMS configuration, and technical best practices.

A day in the life

You start your morning reviewing outstanding maintenance actions and aligning priorities with your facility manager. Much of your time is spent on the data center floor — inspecting equipment, validating controls sequences, and working alongside vendors to commission new systems or resolve open issues. Between site visits you collaborate remotely with design and project teams, reviewing drawings, updating logic programming, and reporting progress to stakeholders. As part of a global on‑call rotation, you also stay prepared to provide immediate technical support when the unexpected happens.

About the team

Our controls team sits within AWS Infrastructure Services, the organization that designs, builds, and operates all of AWS's global data center infrastructure. We are the people who keep the cloud running — ensuring the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems our customers depend on are always available. The team is growing quickly and playing a central role in delivering reliable infrastructure at scale.

You will work alongside engineers, operations managers, and supply chain specialists in an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas and continuous learning. You will have real impact on the infrastructure that millions of customers rely on every day.
