Job summary

Spendesk is seeking a product-minded Software Engineer to join the Control squad, with roles open in London, Paris, or Barcelona. You will design policies, workflows and dashboards to help finance teams control spend without slowing employees.

This is a full-stack role with emphasis on frontend experiences, configuration flows and dashboards. You’ll work across the feature lifecycle, from problem framing to production, supported by a collaborative engineering team.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience in a product-focused environment.
• Fluency in written and spoken English, our business language.
• Strong TypeScript skills, with professional experience in Node.js and/or React.
• Experience building and maintaining production features.
• Good engineering fundamentals, including testing, code quality and maintainable system design.
• The ability to take ownership of features and work autonomously while collaborating closely with Product and Design.
• A product-oriented mindset and an interest in understanding user problems.
• Willingness to contribute to technical discussions and grow towards broader ownership over time.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop flexible spend policies and approval workflows.
• Build experiences for managing budgets, spending limits and analytical fields.
• Create clear dashboards and reporting capabilities for Finance Controllers.
• Develop self-service configuration flows for rules, permissions and control settings.
• Work closely with Product and Design to make complex financial concepts simple and understandable.
• Contribute to technical decisions around rule-heavy domains, data consistency, asynchronous processing and reporting.
• Own features from discovery through production, with support from the wider Engineering team.
• Improve the quality, maintainability and usability of the squad’s systems.
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly in daily workflow.
