Job summary

IREN seeks a Community Engagement & Social Impact Specialist in Badajoz, Spain. You will manage community relations, implement the Stakeholder Engagement Plan and coordinate social performance data for ESG reporting.

Key duties include organizing meetings, recording feedback, addressing concerns, and supporting social impact assessments and due diligence for project development and construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Sociology, Communications, International Relations, Community Development, Environmental Sciences or related field.
• Experience in community engagement, stakeholder management or social impact for infrastructure, energy, construction or territorial development projects.
• Knowledge of stakeholder mapping, engagement planning, consultation methods and inclusive participation.
• Experience handling community enquiries and grievances, maintaining commitments registers; ability to escalate sensitive issues.
• Understanding of social impact assessment and social risk management; familiarity with ESG frameworks desirable.
• Ability to organise meetings and communicate clearly with residents, authorities and teams.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and collaboration tools; familiarity with grievance systems is desirable.
• Fluency in Spanish and English; willingness to travel for meetings/site visits.

Responsibilities

• Identify and map stakeholders, maintain a stakeholder register across projects.
• Implement and update the Stakeholder Engagement Plan with activities and audiences.
• Organise community meetings and information sessions; document feedback and responses.
• Maintain day-to-day relationships with community representatives and organisations.
• Administer the community grievance mechanism and coordinate investigations.
• Support social impact assessments and mitigation follow-ups with site teams.
• Coordinate approved community initiatives with internal and external partners.
• Prepare records and inputs for ESG reporting and due diligence.
