SilverBack is seeking an experienced Commissioning Instrumentation Lead to oversee site-wide commissioning of instrumentation and control systems on a major international project.

Responsibilities include leading loop checks, calibration, testing of DCS/PLC/SCADA interfaces, and ensuring safe handover from Mechanical Completion to operations. Fluency in English and Spanish required; energy/industrial project experience preferred.

• Degree or professional qualification in Instrumentation, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong leadership and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience on major industrial, mining or energy construction projects.

Responsabilidades

• Lead field instrumentation pre-commissioning, loop testing, and functional commissioning activities according to safety and schedule milestones.
• Oversee loop checking, calibration, functional testing, and troubleshooting of field instruments, control valves, transmitters, and analytical systems.
• Coordinate site testing and verification of DCS, PLC, ESD, and SCADA interfaces with system integrators and automation teams.
• Identify and manage instrumentation punch items, troubleshoot technical queries, and ensure rapid resolution before handover.
• Review and verify commissioning dossiers, calibration certificates, QA/QC documentation, and redline drawings for handover.
• Maintain collaboration across site management, EHS, construction teams, vendor reps, and client personnel.
• Enforce safety, permits to work, EHS policies, and quality standards during energized testing.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Instrumentation Lead

(m/w/d) to oversee and execute the site-wide commissioning of all instrumentation and control systems.

This role is critical to leading loop checking, field instrument calibration, control system testing, and integrated pre-commissioning/commissioning activities. Acting as a key interface between Construction, Engineering, QA/QC, and Operations, you will ensure all instrumentation systems transition safely, efficiently, and on schedule from Mechanical Completion to full operational handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Commissioning Leadership & Strategy: Lead, plan, and execute field instrumentation pre-commissioning, loop testing, and functional commissioning activities according to safety and schedule milestones.
• Testing & Calibration: Oversee the loop checking, calibration, functional testing, and troubleshooting of field instruments, control valves, transmitters, and analytical systems.
• Control System Integration: Coordinate site testing and verification of DCS, PLC, ESD, and SCADA control system interfaces alongside system integrators and automation teams.
• Punch List & Issue Resolution: Conduct system walkdowns, identify and manage instrumentation punch items, troubleshoot technical queries, and ensure swift resolution prior to handover.
• Turnover & Documentation: Review and verify complete commissioning dossiers, calibration certificates, QA/QC documentation, and redline drawings for final handover.
• Interdisciplinary Coordination: Maintain continuous collaboration across site management, EHS, construction teams, package leads, vendor representatives, and client personnel.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to site safety protocols, permits to work (PTW), EHS policies, and quality standards during all energized testing.

Requirements

• Language Skills: Professional fluency in both English and Spanish (written and spoken) is mandatory.
• Experience: Proven experience as a Commissioning Lead, Senior InstrumentationEngineer, or Field Commissioning Specialist on major industrial, mining, or energy construction projects.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong technical background in field instrumentation, DCS/PLC logic, control loop tuning, safety instrumented systems (SIS), and pre-commissioning procedures.
• Qualifications: Degree or professional technical qualification in Instrumentation, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving ability, decision-making skills, and the capacity to coordinate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
