Clerical Assistant / Office Attendant (Ref: 533600)

The University of Hong Kong invites applications for a full‑time Clerical Assistant / Office Attendant in the Faculty of Social Sciences. The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a two‑year fixed‑term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Qualifications
  • 5 passes in HKCEE including English Language (min. Grade C if Syllabus B/Level 2 from 2007) and Chinese Language (Level 2 from 2007), OR minimum Level 2 or equivalent in 5 subjects in HKDSEE including English Language and Chinese Language, preferably with at least 2 years’ relevant work experience.
  • A fair command of English and Chinese (including Putonghua).
  • Basic skill in English and Chinese word processing.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Good manners with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Punctual, with a strong sense of responsibility, self‑motivated, and attentive to detail.
  • Able to multitask, work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Those with lower qualifications and/or less experience/will be considered for appointment as Office Attendant.
Responsibilities
  • Support the daily operation of the Faculty Office, including reception counter service, answering enquiries, collate and file documents.
  • Operate office equipment (e.g., photocopier).
  • Deliver mail and manage room bookings; perform clerical support duties and general cleaning tasks.
  • Assist with meetings and events, including serving refreshments, and perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • When necessary, may be required to work on weekends or outside normal office hours to support office operations.
Benefits

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract‑end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10 % of the basic salary.
