About the role: As a Civil Structural Engineer you will be part of the Civil Structural Architectural Department (BEPD) performing engineering tasks that contribute to design, analysis, and documentation efforts, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and project requirements.

You will report to the Structural Design and Modules Manager and be located at the Madrid headquarters in San Sebastián de los Reyes. This is a full-time hybrid position with a mix of 50% on-site and 50% remote days that may be set at your discretion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute independent engineering tasks and assume technical responsibility for assigned projects
  • Review and verify engineering work performed by others, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design standards
  • Resolve technical issues (typically non-complex), justify design decisions, and interpret engineering data
  • Develop project design bases, detailed specifications, technical reports, calculations, and sizing analyses
  • Originate and validate engineering deliverables including drawings, design reviews, change control documents, and calculation notes
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable engineering codes, standards, and internal procedures
  • Deliver engineering outputs within defined scope, schedule, and budget, addressing commercial impacts
  • Prepare documentation that is technically sound, grammatically correct, and formatted
  • Lead the development of formal project documentation required for construction or installation permits in Spain, acting and signing as the Design/ Project Author
  • Collaborate within the global Westinghouse Engineering framework, engaging with senior engineers, provide guidance to Junior engineer and designers, and international teams
Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered member of the applicable professional association in Spain (Colegiado en la rama de ingeniería correspondiente)
  • Eligibility to act as Design/ Project Engineer for projects requiring formal authorization
  • 5+ years of experience in Civil or Mechanical-Structural Engineering roles in nuclear, energy, oil & gas, civil construction, or similar industries
  • Knowledge of:
    • Structural Eurocodes and Spanish Structural Code
    • Nuclear-related standards (ACI, AISC, ASME, NRC, and CSN guidelines)
    • Spanish and European standards (UNE EN ISO)
    • Engineering software tools (ANSYS, GTStrudl, or RFEM)
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Ability for occasional travel to client facilities
